Installing exterior flood lights?
Posted on | June 7, 2010 | 1 Comment
Can anyone make suggestions on installing a pair of flood lights on each corner of the back of my house? I currently have no exterior lighting other than a small light mounted on the side of a recessed porch. Thats my problem it doesn’t shine enough to light the yard thats why I want to add the pair of flood lights. What would I have to wire to get it done? Any electricians or contractors opinions would be appreciated.

If you want to add the flood lights for security, then I agree that you should have a licensed electrician do the work.
However, if you want the added lighting for using your backyard/patio at night, I would recommend installing a low voltage lighting system. Floodlights create a lot of glare and the stark lighting is not comfortable to be, but low voltage lights can be used to uplight trees/walls for wash of general lighting, can be used for perimeter or path lighting, and in general is more inviting if you’ll be using the space for entertaining. Plus, you can install these types lights yourself!
Good luck.
